Meet Our Executive Team
The executive team and its staff has, all combined, more than 100 years of experience researching the technology marketplace. From the early days of the mainframe to ushering in cloud computing, we’ve been involved in nearly every significant business technology development to date, working with technology giants and startups.
WILLIAM D. DEATON, Ph.D.
Bill Deaton is a principal and founding partner of ConStat, Inc., which began operations in 1987. During his four decades of experience in marketing and social science research, he has served in such positions as the director of marketing research for Pacific Bell Directory, manager of marketing research at Pacific Telesis, research fellow at the Stanford Research Institute, and research associate at the University of California.
Bill’s research expertise includes qualitative research approaches, all phases of survey research, multivariate statistical analysis, and decision-making modeling. He is particularly keen on how decision-making behavior occurs in the business technology space.
Bill has extensive experience in moderating focus groups of business executives, IT, and communications professionals. He is well versed in all of the most effective qualitative techniques available and has instructed moderators in developmental programs.
Bill completed his Ph.D. in Policy Analysis at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Brian Kirby is Managing Director and co-founder of ConStat. In addition to overseeing management of the company, he serves as an account executive on large-scale projects for key clients.
His research expertise includes customer loyalty and satisfaction, positioning and messaging, new product development, and advertising research. Brian routinely conducts qualitative research with global technology decision-makers and oversees ConStat’s trusted network of global research partners. A few select clients Brian has provided research consulting for include Microsoft, Cisco, Intel, eBay, Groupon, T-Mobile, AT&T Wireless, J. Walter Thompson, and TBWA/Chiat/Day.
Brian has a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Western Washington University.
Tom Leone is Managing Director at ConStat where he leads the quantitative research practice out of our Denver, Colorado office. Tom has more than 20 years’ experience in conducting primary market research focused on technology, telecommunications, cable television, financial services, and healthcare.
Prior to joining ConStat in 2001, Tom led the research activities surrounding the deployment of cable telephony for MediaOne (now Comcast). He has also held several positions at research supplier companies both domestically and abroad. He is well versed in all aspects of market research and has extensive experience in new product development, customer satisfaction, demand estimation, employee satisfaction, needs assessment, and segmentation.
Tom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts and has an M.B.A. from American University.
